1-1 Online Tuition
Pay wHat you can afford

Italian is an Indo-European language, evolved directly from Latin but with many other influences. Modern Italian has been shaped through centuries of history, literature and popular culture. That being said, its standardisation was only realised in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is important to acknowledge that this development has encountered resistance by anti-nationalist sentiments owing to the presence of strong regional dialects that are still widely used throughout the Italian peninsula.

Italian is recognised as an official language in 6 European countries. However, following the violence of Italian colonialism as well as the huge flows of emigration, it is today spoken by millions of people all over the world.

This political-historical background, together with an insight into the most important social and cultural issues that are affecting Italy, will be a framework for our grammar and vocabulary learning.

1-1 classes (10 sessions of 1 hour) are suitable for all levels and will be prepared according to the students needs and interests.

The course will be taught by Margherita, a native Italian tutor who has worked in the field for many years teaching both Italian and English. Her BA in history and MA in politics allow her to enrich her language and grammar teaching with historical and political analysis. She believes the principal motivation for teaching a language is to gift other people the confidence to speak for themselves and access the tools to open new opportunities.
